Newly developed products around the topic solar modules concern the direct wrapping of the sensitive solar cells.

Almost all solar module manufacturers use an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) for it up till now.

A disadvantage of this method is the low productivity which is connected to a high time expenditure since EVA must be chemically networked. When using films made of the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Desmopan® the cycle time could be reduced considerably since in the processing no networking time has to be taken into account.

Based on this TPU development Etimex Primary Packaging is producing solar films and supplying the producers of solar modules.

The films show a high UV stability and transparency. Besides the vacuum lamination they can be processed also in a roll lamination process. The last-named method offers advantages particularly because it permits a continuous and thus strongly timesaving continuous production of solar modules. In comparison with vacuum laminating machines the investment costs are considerably lower here.

Desmopan® is a material, that can be handled more simply in comparison with EVA because it can easily be stored for some time without special climate conditions to be met.

In addition, solar modules manufactured with Desmopan® foils can be repaired in the case of damages and if they should be replaced by a newer model after long life time the material can be easily recycled.
